Under the mentorship of José Alfredo de Oliveira Baracho, in memoriam, and Joaquim Carlos Salgado, he holds a Bachelor of Laws (1994), a Master’s in Constitutional Law (1999), and a Doctorate in Philosophy of Law (2002), all from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in institutional innovation projects.

At the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in a full-time capacity, he has contributed in various areas, including the legal education reforms of the 1990s and 2000s, the reforms of the Postgraduate Program in Law (2004-2007 and 2011-2013), and, most notably, the implementation of the Reuni program at UFMG, with the successful creation (2008-2009) of the Bachelor’s degree in State Sciences at the UFMG Faculty of Law. Since then, he has also dedicated himself to the internationalization of research, engaging in a fifteen-year dialogue with philosopher Gonçal Mayos of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Catalonia. To this end, he pursued postdoctoral studies at the UB Faculty of Philosophy, where he was welcomed as a Visiting Professor (2010-2011) and Senior Visiting Professor (2023-2024).

He has been a recipient of scholarships from CNPq, FAPEMIG, and CAPES. He is a member of the Brazilian Hegel Society (SHB) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies (CEJM-UFMG), as well as an essayist, journalist, and lawyer.
