ABOUT
Leonardo Parentoni is passionate about Law & Technology, with more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Corporate Law from The University of São Paulo – USP/Brazil. Master of Laws from the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG/Brazil. LL.M. in Civil Procedural Law at the University of Brasília – UnB/Brazil. Member of Attorney General’s Office (Advocacia-Geral da União/AGU). Researcher and Tenured Law Professor at UFMG and Full Professor at The Brazilian Institute for Capital Markets – IBMEC/MG. A former member of the original composition of the Brazilian Privacy and Personal Data Protection Council (CNPD), appointed by the Presidency of the Republic. Founder and Coordinator of the research area on Law, Technology, and Innovation at UFMG Law School Ph.D. Program. Founder and Scientific Advisor to the Research Center on Law, Technology and Innovation – DTIBR (www.dtibr.com). Former Research Fellow at the University of Texas in Austin and Visiting Professor at the Uruguay Data Protection Authority. Key Technology Partner at the University of Technology Sydney. Team Mentor in Law Without Walls – LWOW. He is quoted in Brazilian higher courts of law, such as STF RE 1,010,606, and STJ REsp. 1,925,959. Areas of expertise: 1) Law, Technology and Innovation; 2) Corporate Law; 3) Empirical Legal Studies – ELS.
