ABOUT

Professor of International Law in undergraduate and postgraduate law courses at the UFMG Law School. He is coordinator of the International Courts and Tribunals Research Group and coordinator of UFMG’s East Asia Studies Center, a university think tank focused on Asian issues. Professor Lima is Director of Studies for the Brazilian Branch of the International Law Association, editor of the International Law Agendas Blog, and Deputy Editor of the Journal of the UFMG Law School. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Law and International Relations from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and obtained his doctorate at the Università degli Studi di Macerata in 2017. During his doctorate, he carried out research periods at the University of Cambridge and the Max Planck Institute for International Dispute Settlement in Luxembourg. He completed a post-doctoral research period at the Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne (2022-2023). He was a visiting researcher at the University of Copenhagen (2020) with the Center of Excellence for International Courts and Tribunals – iCourts. Visiting Professor at the Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne (2024) and at the Chinese University of Political Science and Law (CUPL – 2024). In 2024, he was SUSI Foreign Policy Scholar at the US State Department at the University of Delaware. He has been a guest lecturer at various universities and institutions in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He writes regularly for national and international journals on global legal and political issues, in particular involving international courts and tribunals, international conflicts, international organizations, environmental issues and Brazilian legal foreign policy.
