Repensando as demandas populares em tempos de fragilidade democrática:
o populismo e a redefinição do imaginário democrático

O objetivo deste artigo reside em repensar a maneira como as demandas populares, concebidas através da teorização do populismo de Ernesto Laclau, podem contribuir para a formação de novos sujeitos políticos coletivos e a luta pelo reconhecimento dos seus direitos. Essa intervenção, por sua vez, visaria a ampliar e aprofundar os valores constitutivos da revolução democrática, a saber, uma sociedade caracterizada pela liberdade e igualdade entre os seus membros. A lógica populista tal como Laclau a concebe é uma forma de dinâmica política que promove uma intensificação da participação popular, especialmente na transposição das demandas populares para os espaços institucionais nos quais elas por vezes são afastadas ou desconsideradas. Uma vez que a lógica populista repousa na construção do povo, a presente pesquisa recorre também a aspectos pontuais dos trabalhos de Benjamin Arditi, Jacques Rancière e Antonio Negri com o propósito de pensar o potencial do povo não apenas em contraposição às instituições políticas, como também à efetivação de direitos e garantias que lhe foram conferidos, mas não respeitados.
